Wotan’s day, a day late

“Odin” is generally accepted as the modern English form of the name, although, in some cases, older forms may be used or preferred. His name is related to ōðr, meaning “fury, excitation,” besides “mind,” or “poetry.” His role, like that of many of the Norse gods, is complex. Odin is a principal member of the Æsir (the major group of the Norse pantheon) and is associated with war, battle, victory and death, but also wisdomShamanismmagicpoetryprophecy, and the hunt. Odin has many sons, the most famous of whom is the thunder god Thor. Wednesday is the unified form of Woden’s day as most days of the week are named for Germanic gods.

Today being Thursday we celebrate Thor, Wotan’s son.   Also I believe that I was born on a Thursday and therefore am Thursdays child.   I think that means that I have far to go.  It feels like that sometimes.

Independence Day

Although we in this country are celebrating Independence, I am feeling gratitude.   I am grateful for so many things.   Today I am especially grateful that Rich and Alisa and Sydney have found a new home.   I am grateful to Dick for helping out from the great beyond.   I am grateful to my friend Gary Tashman for making a great mixed cd on the theme of July 4th.   Music touches us beyond death and enables our spirits to connect in a timeless way..  Thanks Dick, Jerry and Gary.   You have left me speechless.

Always grateful

About the slippers…

Sydney is 2 years old today and I got her a pair of sheepskin slippers like her mother has.   I also got a tiny pair of pink deerskin slippers for the new granddaughter who is coming soon.   I couldn’t believe how tiny they look.   More about Sydney will follow.
